This course is for Dentists, Residents, Dental Students, Specialists and Hygienists.

Clinicians are often faced with the dilemma of preserving teeth or extracting and embracing implants. This course brings a multidisciplinary perspective to these challenging case scenarios and also rationalizes the decision making process. The panel discussion will involve interactive discussion of cases with the speakers and the audience. 

Learning Objectives:
  • To learn about common clinical dilemmas involving teeth with guarded, questionable or hopeless prognosis
  • To gain a multidisciplinary perspective to decision making of saving versus extracting and embracing implants
  • To understand the short and long term prognosis of these treatment decisions
  • To discuss and treatment plan complex cases together with the panelists and the audience 
 
Ryaz Ansari, DDS

Ryaz Ansari, DDS, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, began his education at the University of Toronto with a degree in Molecular Genetics. He then completed four years of dental training at the University of Western Ontario in Canada followed by a one-year General Practice Residency at the University of Toronto. Due to his immense passion for surgery, Dr. Ansari joined the Residency Training Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Brooklyn Hospital Center affiliate of Cornell University and then completed a fellowship in Cosmetic/Maxillofacial Surgery at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of Oral and Maxillofacial conditions, including orofacial pathology, dentofacial deformities, infections, dentoalveolar defects, and maxillofacial trauma. He is well versed in Orthognathic procedures, implant therapy and bone grafting, as well as dentoalveolar surgery.

Adam S. Daniels, DDS obtained his bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and then completed his dental and master's degrees in Orthodontics from the University of Michigan. He currently holds the position of president of the Tolland County Dental Society and co-leads the Connecticut Spear Study Club. In addition, he is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Society and acts as a mentor for the University of Connecticut Dental Students.

Adam S. Daniels, DDS

Dr. Daniels practice, Connecticut Valley Orthodontics, specializes in treating both children and adults, with a focus on dentofacial orthopedics, surgical orthodontics, and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.

Recognized for his expertise, Dr. Daniels has achieved the Blue Diamond Plus Provider status for Invisalign. He has been consistently recognized as a "Top Dentist" in Connecticut Magazine since 2009. He was also honored as the Tolland Chamber Corporate Citizen of the Year for his local community service and his service in Guatemala.

Satoko Ono Rubin, DMD, MDSc

Satoko Ono Rubin, DMD, MDSc is an accomplished periodontist and prosthodontist with extensive education and professional experience. She earned her DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine before completing a three-year Prosthodontics Residency at Boston University followed by a three-year Periodontics Residency at the University of Connecticut. This gives her the distinction of being one of the only dual specialists in the nation. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Rubin is also an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the UConn Health Center and has won
numerous awards for her teaching, mentorship, and clinical research contributions.

She is highly respected within her field and has held leadership roles in several professional organizations throughout her career. Dr. Rubin is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a member of both the American College of Prosthodontics and American Academy of Periodontology, a board member of the
International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgery and was a past President of the Connecticut Society of Periodontists and she was honored with an international award for her clinical research contributions. She was also selected to be a member of AAP's prestigious LEAD program for 2021, which provides leadership development opportunities for individuals looking to advance their careers in periodontics and implantology.

Ashkan Samadzadeh, DMD, MSD received his DMD degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1997. After completing his general practice residency at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, he practiced general dentistry for eight years before pursuing his residency training in Endodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry from Boston University.

Ashkan Samadzadeh, DMD, MSD

Dr. Samadzadeh is a former Director of the General Practice Residency Program at St. Joseph's University Medical Center, Paterson, NJ. He has presented a number of research projects at the annual sessions of the International Association for Dental Research and the American Endodontic Association. He has also authored a research article published in the Journal of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Samadzadeh is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Endodontists, Connecticut State Dental Association, and Seattle Study Club. He has received the Top Dentist Award from both Hartford Magazine and Connecticut Magazine.
