AM Course: The Oral Cavity Under Acid Attack: Identifying, Understanding and Treating Caries, Erosion, and other Acid Related Diseases

As a dentist, personal trainer and fitness nutrition specialist, Dr. Geissberger brings a unique perspective to the subjects of caries, diet and the oral environment. Through this enlightening program, Dr. Geissberger will discuss various disease conditions that plague the entire dental population and identify several at risk populations. The importance of oral pH will be discussed and strategies for altering an unfavorable oral environment will be outlined. Additionally, the dental team will learn progressive strategies to help their patients achieve oral balance and curb their disease processes. Nutrition and diet control will be discussed extensively.

At the completion of this program, clinicians will:

  • Understand the difference between a balanced oral environment and one that is susceptible to disease
  • Develop strategies which can be implemented in practice to help patients achieve oral balance
  • Develop a program for caries eradication that can be easily implemented into private practice
  • Develop strategies to begin to discuss the oral implications of poor eating strategies and provide some tips
  • Learn which materials should be used how to properly restore dentitions plagued with the effects of erosion, abrasion, GERD and bulimia

PM Course: Maximizing Clinical Outcomes for Your Patient Population: Providing State of the Art Care...with Sound Diagnosis, Prevention Strategies and Restorative Treatment

This fast paced, informative session will introduce the participants to several new philosophies, materials and techniques in preventive and restorative dentistry designed to simplify clinical practice and yield predictable clinical outcomes and problem free restorations. Various clinical tips and techniques will be introduced designed to eliminate common problems associated with routine clinical procedures. They will include: diagnosing and managing caries, periodontal disease and occlusion, creating perfect Class II restorations, mastering flawless crown and bridge impressions, enhancing esthetics in anterior direct bonding cases and proper adhesion and curing protocols.  Additionally, this course will cover the latest development in all porcelains, cements, impression materials and CAD/CAM technology and elucidate their influences on the modern practice of dentistry.

  • Learn to enhance disease management strategies
  • Learn predictable techniques designed to capture flawless impressions
  • Review appropriate layering techniques to enhance esthetics of anterior bonding cases
  • Gain knowledge of modern ceramic materials and understand limitations and strengths of each type
  • Develop a better understanding of the indications and contraindications of each material
  • Improve understanding of the plethora of modern cements and which clinical situations are indicated for their use
  • Navigate the technological advances in CAD/CAM Dentistry and figure out which systems may be most appropriate for practices

About the Presenters: 

Marc Geissberger, DDS taught at University of the Pacific for 30 years and ran Pacific’s prestigious complex and esthetic rehabilitation program. He is also a researcher and a published author in the areas of dental materials, contemporary fixed prosthodontics, and esthetic dentistry. He serves as a consultant for many dental materials companies and helps guide product development.  During his 30 years in academia, he has maintained a private practice geared toward restorative dentistry with his brother and fellow Pacific alum Dr. Jeffrey Geissberger.  Dr. Geissberger is a member of the Catapult Education Speakers Bureau, has won several teaching awards, and has presented over 450 lectures and hands-on workshops.
